‘Menstrual poverty’ comes in many forms, primarily poor education on menstruation due to financial constraints and a lack of access to necessary sanitary products, waste management systems and hand washing facilities. It is a global problem affecting millions of women worldwide. One survey of 2000 women aged between 18 and 55 found that nearly half had suffered from a lack of access to female sanitary products, education or basic amenities. This means that for thousands of women living in poverty, periods are a great source of worry, shame and distress.

Share the Dignity is a national charity with the goal of ending period poverty in Australia. The charity frequently works with Australia’s most vulnerable populations, including the homeless and those fleeing from domestic violence to make a real difference in their lives. To date, they have donated over 2.4 million tampons and 3000 menstrual cups along with over 500,000 Christmas goodie bags filled with essential period and hygiene products for those in need.

Asides from the It’s In The Bag campaign Share the Dignity also hosts DigniTea and Move 4 Dignity, signature events aimed at collecting donations and educating the public.

This year, The Beauty Base at Narellan and Gregory Hills and Pherrus Financial Services located at Norwest Sydney have joined hands to support Share the Dignity’s mission of ending period poverty in Australia.

We will be donating 200 bags full of Hygiene products worth $10,000 for the charity’s latest donation drive. These bags will be collected by Share the Dignity and distributed to charities across Australia so they can reach the people that need them most.

Due to COVID-19, the charity’s latest Dignity Drive collections have been severely impacted, so this donation will go a long way towards helping them fulfil the thousands of requests for period products they receive from schools, hospitals and community organisations.

Share the Dignity is an outstanding charity helping thousands of women every year. We encourage you to get involved and help out in any way you can. If you’re looking to donate, the 2020 It’s In The Bag campaign will run from the 20th of November to the 29th of November with drop off points at Bunnings stores nationwide.

Alternatively, you can help out by donating your time. With over 5000 volunteers across Australia, volunteers are a significant part of the organisation. Share the Dignity volunteers help collect and distribute donations with leadership, administrative and operational roles also available.

The Beauty Base sweeps four categories in the 2020 Haute Grandeur Awards

We are tremendously proud to bring you the news of The Beauty Base Luxury Spa Narellan’s recent achievement – we picked up Excellence Awards in no less than four categories at the recent 2020 Haute Grandeur Awards!

The Haute Grandeur Awards are seen as one of the highest recognitions for spas around the world. The awards here are set up as an independent initiative which honours the biggest achievements across the industry, highlighting exceptional contributions. These awards place integrity right at the heart of their philosophy and are based on quality feedback from guests, rather than a pre-selected judge panel. It is this completely transparent rating method which sets apart the Haute Grandeur Awards as a system which the industry can really trust.

What was The Beauty Base recognised for?

The Beauty Base Luxury Spa & Clinic in Narellan won the Global Award for the Best Medical Spa out of thousands of salons across 172 countries, as well as Best Beauty Salon in Oceania, Best Beauty Spa in Oceania and Best Luxury Spa in Oceania. We are extremely excited and happy to be recognised for our work, especially as the awards are entirely based on the feedback from our guests. Our focus has always been on serving our guests with the best possible services and products, and these awards give us the all-important thumbs up and motivates us to keep doing our best in these challenging times.

We are over the moon with the win of Best Medical Spa on a Global level, especially as these awards take into account spas in no less than 172 countries. The three wins at Oceania level is also incredibly humbling – and now the target is clear; to take our guest satisfaction to a new level by aiming to take the global prize for the Best Beauty Salon, Best Beauty Spa and Best Luxury Spa categories.

A notice to all our beautiful guests,

 

The current government restrictions in relation to Beauty Salons trading has been revised. Beginning June 1st,  The Beauty Base will be open.

 

Current restrictions allow for a limit of ten guests per salon, with only one person (guests and staff) per 4 square metres.

 

To cater to all our valued guests, we will be extending our trading hours. We kindly ask our guests to contact us by phone, email, or by filling out an online enquiry form, and our lovely staff will assist to book your appointments.

 

We kindly request, that if on the day of your appointment you are feeling unwell, regardless of the severity of your symptoms, that you please contact the salon and rebook your appointment.

 

The Beauty Base staff will be adhering to the following COVID-19 Principles:

 

  • Strict cleaning and sanitary requirements
  • Maintaining social distancing regulations.
  • Enforcing regular hand washing
  • Conducting regular temperature checks on all staff and clients
  • Engaging in other High Standard Sanitisation Methods for Beauty Salons

 

Each staff member will also be assigned their own station/room to reduce the risk of cross interaction between rooms and stations and we will be allotting a fifteen minute timeframe after each service to ensure all rooms and stations are correctly sanitised.

 

We kindly request that you please support us in adhering to these guidelines by always maintaining a safe distance between yourself and others .

 

If you have young children, we kindly request that you please do not bring them into the salon as Government regulations will only allow for those that are booked in for appointments to enter the salon.

 

The waiting area will be in use only while we can maintain proper social distancing and any items that may be regularly touched, such as magazines will be removed.

 

Staff will be present at all times with the sole responsibility of ensuring that staff and guests are adhering to all the guidelines stated, and that our salons do not exceed capacity.

 

We will be displaying signage at the entryways and front desks of all our salons, which will inform our guests of all regulations and restrictions to be followed.

 

We understand these are difficult times, and therefore we would  like to thank you all for your continued support during the COVID-19 salon closures.

We have taken every measure possible to keep our loyal guests safe during this time, however the new government regulations have sadly forced us to stop all treatments for now.

We are however, continuing to sell our beautiful products by phone, and of course you can still buy vouchers online. Don’t forget we are currently offering 20% Off all Products with Free Shipping.  Please call us at the Luxury Spa & Clinic on 02 4646 1832 to order and we will either post out the same day, provide free home delivery or you can collect from the Luxury Spa & Clinic. To all of our gorgeous guests,

We are closely monitoring the government recommendations and industry advice regarding Covid-19 and are very happy to say we are still open and currently pampering our guests!

Since our last update, we have introduced more stringent cleaning procedures, we are serving all drinks in disposable cups, we are asking you to refrain from cash payments where possible and we made changes to our salon stations and chairs in an effort to self-distance as much as possible. As a reminder, if you are unwell, have recently returned from overseas travel or have come into contact with someone with Covid-19, please reschedule, even if you do not have symptoms. We are enforcing this with our staff also, so thank you for your patience should we need to reschedule your appointment.

We ask that you stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram or emails in the coming weeks, as we keep you updated and share some exciting offers and online specials. Don’t forget we have already introduced 20% off All Products with free shipping, to assist those that can’t visit us in salon.

In light of the continued uncertainty in the community with the outbreak of Covid-19 (Coronavirus), we wanted to share with our guests, the actions we have been taking in each of our salons to mitigate the transmission of this virus. Our priority is the safety of our team and that of our guests!

It has been clear from the start that good hygiene rituals are the best way to tackle any virus, so we have implemented the following procedures:

  • We invite all guests to use the hand sanitiser available at reception on arrival and departure
  • Our team have been instructed to wash their hands before each service and at the completion of your treatment each station is cleaned with disinfectant
  • All surfaces throughout the salons are regularly cleaned during the day with special attention to reception, EFTPOS machines, bathrooms, phones and computers
  • Disposable cups are available for cold refreshments
  • As an extra precaution magazines won’t be available until further notice.

We want to assure you that we are taking this very seriously and we are doing all we can so you can feel confident visiting us for your next treatment.

We do also ask that if you are experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms or have recently travelled outside of Australia, to please follow the latest Department of Health advice – see the link below. If need be, we can simply reschedule your next appointment to a later date as a precaution and for the safety of all guests and staff.
